1/15/2021: Hybrid Learning Update for RLAS-116 Families

Dear RLAS-116 Families:

I am pleased to announce that it appears we are heading in the direction of being able to offer a Hybrid Learning Plan option to RLAS-116 families in the coming weeks. Specific details related to the Hybrid Learning Plan and safety procedures will be released to parents on Monday, January 25.

While we witnessed a dramatic increase in the Incidence Rate 7-Day Rolling Average for the 60073 zip code starting in October and into December that hit a high of 107.9, we have since seen a significant decline. The Incident Rate as of January 11 was at 39.1. The District’s Return to School Metrics Assessment Dashboard is updated twice a week and is accessible on the website. With a continued decline of the Incidence Rate and our ability to implement the following mitigation strategies, we are confident that RLAS-116 will be able to implement a Hybrid Learning Plan.

Mitigation Strategies:

  • Consistent and correct use of masks
  • Social distancing, to the largest extent possible
  • Hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Contact tracing in collaboration with the local health department

The District has been working in collaboration with EARL leadership representatives to build a strong Hybrid Learning Plan and comprehensive procedures to ensure the safety of our staff and students. Below is a TENTATIVE timeline listing important information and key dates. These dates are highly dependent upon the continued decline of the Incidence Rate for the 60073 zip code.

Key Dates

Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we begin the implementation of the Hybrid Learning Plan option. I look forward to sharing additional information with you on Monday, January 25.
