Students enrolled in both the Graphics capstone course and in PLTW: Engineering Design and Development at Round Lake High School wish to showcase their culminating projects to the Board and the community.  In both courses, students spent the year examining real-world situations and applying the knowledge and skills they have gained over their educational careers to create the projects they are showcasing. 

Capstone courses are a crucial component of career and technical education (CTE) programs. Both RLAS courses are designed to be the culminating experience of the student's academic journey, where they showcase their mastery of skills, knowledge, and competencies.  Students were tasked with integrating theoretical and practical knowledge into a final project that demonstrates their ability to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively. 

Students in these courses had opportunities to work collaboratively with peers and industry professionals, which enhances their networking and teamwork skills. Completing these capstone courses in CTE provides students with a competitive edge when seeking employment or furthering their education. It helps them stand out in a crowded job market by demonstrating their readiness to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world scenarios. 

This year, students have outdone themselves with the quality of the projects they produced.  Aided by a generous grant from the John and Kathleen Schreiber Foundation, students built working prototypes, designed products, and created environmental branding at an industry-standard level.  The CTE department as well as the larger RLAS community is proud of their accomplishments.
