History
In 2010, a group of concerned representatives from organizations in the Round Lake Area began addressing the growing health care needs and increasing barriers to access health care facing Round Lake Area families. Of particular concern was the impact these health issues were having on the academic achievement of students. In 2011, the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County (HFNLC) provided a grant to conduct a feasibility study for opening a school-based health center in the Round Lake Area.
In 2012, HFNLC provided additional funds to support a planning phase, during which time, an Advisory Committee worked on developing a business plan for the School-Based Health Center. Construction began over the summer of 2014 and the facility opened to Round Lake High School students on October 7, 2014. In January 2017, services were made available to all RLAS-116 students and staff.
