Immigration Resources

Our school district is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for all students and families, regardless of immigration status.

Our District’s Practice Regarding Agency Requests

The district follows all applicable federal and state laws when responding to requests from outside agencies. District staff do not allow access to students or student records unless legally required to do so. Any requests from immigration or law enforcement agencies are reviewed by district administration to ensure compliance with the law and to protect student and family rights.

Families will be notified if legally permissible.

Student Privacy

Student records and personal information are protected under federal and state privacy laws. The district does not collect or maintain information about a student’s or family’s immigration status unless required by law.

Community Resources for Families

The district encourages families seeking immigration-related information or support to connect with trusted community organizations that specialize in family services, advocacy, and legal referrals.

  • Mano a Mano Family Resource Center
    • Mano a Mano provides culturally responsive support services for families, including resource navigation, family advocacy, education, and connections to community-based assistance. Their work focuses on strengthening families and helping them access trusted supports.
  • Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR)
    • ICIRR is a statewide organization that supports immigrant and refugee communities through advocacy, education, and access to reliable information. ICIRR also connects families to trusted legal resources and provides updates on immigrant rights and protections.

Families may choose to contact these or other trusted organizations directly if they are seeking guidance or assistance. The district remains committed to supporting students’ access to education while respecting the rights and privacy of all families.
