If you are interested in working as a Guest Teacher/Substitute Teacher for our district, you must hold a valid Substitute, Paraprofessional (with a Bachelor’s degree on file), or a Professional Educator License registered in Lake County.
Obtaining a License
If you are new to guest teaching, visit the ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION website to apply for your Substitute License. Then follow the next steps.
- Initial License Requirements: Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
- Complete the application process through the ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION and pay applicable fees.
- Register your license in Lake County (Region 34/Lake ROE)

Substitute Rates
Day-to-Day Guest Teachers and Teaching Assistants
Daily Sub Rate: $115.00 per day
Half Day Sub Rate: $57.50
Long-Term Guest Teacher and Teaching Assistant Assignments
Long-term Substitute Rates (30 or more consecutive days for the same staff member)
Teacher: $210.00 per day
Teaching Assistant: $150.00 per day
Extra transition or shadowing days: $115 per day
