Degrees and Certifications:
I am so excited to join the Kindergarten at Pleviak staff and RLAS 116 district this year. I recently moved to the area with my husband after teaching for 7 years in the Chicago Public Schools. I have experience teaching kindergarten and second grade. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. While teaching, I have received an endorsement in English as a Second Language, as well as certificates in Mindful Practices and Positive Discipline.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year teaching Project Lead the Way (PLTW). I am thrilled to use the design process this year, to guide students in hands-on and real world explorations. When not at school, I love to spend time with my dog, Junebug (June for short). I also love hiking, spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, hanging out with family, and cuddling up with a good book.
This year, I'll be coming into classrooms to teach PLTW. Check out some photos of my traveling cart below!
During the week of Monday, September 13th, we will have Noggin Builders joining our PLTW classroom to help faciliate a STEM activity with students! Students will be using the engineering design process to design, create, construct, and improve miniature ziplines. We are so excited to welcome Noggin Builders and explore together!
