Degrees and Certifications:
BA English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago MA Literature from Northeastern Illinois University
Hello! I have been teaching English at Round Lake High School since 1988. That means I have been teaching here for over thirty years!
I attended Grant HS (but that doesn't make me a bad person), graduating in 1980. I then attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a BA in English Language and Literature in 1984. After that, I went to Northeastern Illinois University to work on getting my teaching credentials, and I continued taking courses there, earning my MA in Literature in 1987, where I also worked as a Teaching Assistant, teaching classes and working in the Writing Center. After earning my master's degree, I taught English Composition for one year at CLC, 1987-1988, before landing this job at RLHS in 1988. I continued my education while working at RLHS by taking courses at NEIU, completing my MA+30 hours in English Literature. During my tenure at RLHS, I have coached Bowling as an Assistant (1989-1991, 2014-2016)) and sponsored the Game Club for many years, from its inception in the 1990's until 2013. I have also taught English to every grade, 9-12, and at the Basic, Regular, and Honors levels. Recently, I have been teaching English 4 Classic and English 1, so I greet incoming freshmen and say goodbye to seniors as they graduate.
I am married to a wonderful woman who recently retired (which I will do as well after the 2020-2021 school year). We have two sons and two grandsons, whose hockey and baseball games we enjoy attending. We also have two Yorkies who are very spoiled and run the household. I am an avid Cubs fan and rejoiced when they won the World Series (finally)! I also follow and root for the Bears, Hawks, and Bulls.
I hope this information has given you some idea of my personality and credentials. I feel that my educational background and my experience teaching for over thirty years at RLHS have provided me with unique insights and skills that I utilize every day on the job. GO CUBS!!!!
