Mrs. Owens
Genevieve Owens is a Reading Specialist/Interventionist and Literacy Coach at Round Lake High School. Mrs. Owens works with students in small groups and/or one-on-one to provide reading support. She also provides individual, team, and department coaching to staff members seeking to implement literacy strategies into their classes. Along with other Interventionists and administrators, Mrs. Owens helped to develop the current programs for academic intervention and staff literacy support, beginning over eight years ago.
She also co-chairs the Strategic Reading Committee, which is responsible for organizing and hosting school-wide events to promote positive reading experiences for students. Our most popular event is Guest Readers Week, usually held in March, during which special guests are invited to speak to students about their own reading experiences.
Prior to this role, Mrs. Owens taught English for several years at Round Lake High School as well as language arts at the middle school level.
Mrs. Owens enjoys spending time with her husband, who also works at RLHS, and their two children, Parker and Scarlett. In her spare time, she also enjoys yoga, coffee, and baking.
