About the Principal

Dr. Jeff King
Welcome to Village Elementary School! Your child’s elementary school experience sets the foundation for the rest of their educational career. Together, we lay the foundation of each child’s academic and social/emotional presence in the world. The experiences that your child will have at Village will set their path for success in school and in life. Our staff pledges to make “doing what’s best for kids” the centerpiece of every decision that is made toward a successful education.
While I am excited to be in my 1st year as Principal at Village, I come to this position with many years of experience in K-5 buildings, including opening up a brand new school in a previous district. I know the value of a good education for children and while my experiences have reinforced this, I have the fortune of being married to my best friend and together, we are the proud parents of two wonderful daughters who were given the gift of a good education through a home/school partnership.
Your partnership with us is greatly valued! We know that a great education is the gatekeeper of future success and a great home-to-school connection is the foundation! As parents, there are many ways you can be involved in the life of this school and the most important is setting a tone for the importance of why they are at school. Please take the time each day to read, play a game and talk about their experiences. These activities will help develop both academic and social skills that are vital to success.
Our goal in working with you is to ensure that we educate the Whole Child! Please reach out to me or your child’s teacher if there is any way we can support you in this important year!
Jeff King, Ed.D.

Mrs. Casey Kurtz
Welcome! My name is Casey Kurtz, and I am honored to serve Village Elementary School as Assistant Principal.
At Village, we strive to create a student-centered environment that is dedicated to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. Through educating the whole child, students will achieve high standards of learning each day. Village is committed to fostering relationships with families, students, and community members that embrace the diversity of the Round Lake community. We strive to maintain a school atmosphere that continues to be that of a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone.
On a personal note, I'm currently in my thirteenth year in education. Much of my career has been spent in the Round Lake Area Schools as a teacher, reading specialist and Assistant Principal. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Kevin, our son Luke, and our rescue dog Marley. I love reading, crafting, and spending time outside! We love to go on hikes, garden, kayak, and fish!
I look forward to collaborating as partners to ensure student success at Village.
