Hello Panthers!

I am entering my third year as principal of Round Lake High School.  If this year is anything like the past two, it will be a fantastic year.  We have added many classes and created new opportunities for students to build a better connection to the school.  My goal, as principal, is to assure that each student is provided an experience that prepares them for their next stage in life, whatever that might be.

I have been in education since 1994.  Eight of those years were spent in the classroom as a social studies teacher.  As an administrator, I have been a department chair, assistant principal, director of teaching and learning, and now principal.  I have also coached a number of sports, but soccer is where I spent most of my time when I was coaching.  I received my bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Illinois University and then attended North Central College to obtain my teacher certification.  I went on to gain my master’s degree in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois. Currently, I am taking doctoral classes in educational leadership through Concordia.  I live in Gurnee with my wife, Debra, and daughter, Lani, who is a junior at the University of Illinois.

I’m excited to be the new Associate Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Round Lake High School.  It’s an honor to serve the students, staff, parents, and larger school community of RLHS.  I hope to help sustain an innovative, engaging, and meaningful learning environment so that all students are empowered to construct a thriving future.

This is my third year of administration at RLAS 116.  For the past two years, I’ve been the district Teaching & Learning Coordinator for Social Studies and Physical Education.  Before coming to Round Lake, I’ve worked as a social studies teacher, department chair, coach (basketball and golf), and lead advisor.  My undergraduate degree is in Social Sciences and I have a Masters in Educational Leadership.  My wife Kelly and I have 4 beautiful children who keep us busy and grateful.  In my free time, I enjoy photography, woodworking, and being outdoors.

Mr. Jackson has worked in Round Lake since 2007.  Prior to coming to RLHS, he was Assistant Principal at JTMMS.  Before that, he taught Social Studies at Round Lake High School for seven years and served two years as the Dean of Students. During his time at RLHS he was a baseball coach, the scholastic bowl coach, was an athletic department coordinator, and summer school site director.  He also taught Social Studies for three years at Huntley High School.

Mr. Jackson is a huge sports fan. He enjoys rooting for the White Sox, the Bears, the Blackhawks, and Notre Dame. He really enjoys attending games of his favorite teams and tries to do this as much as he can. He also loves umpiring baseball games, reading, golfing (not very well), spending time with his wife (who is also a school administrator),his family, and his dog Gipper. He is close with family. He is the oldest of four boys and his wife is one of 4 girls, so he has a big family.
