Teacher Receives Burger King School Supplies Grant

Jaclyn Jones, a fourth-grade teacher at Indian Hill Elementary, was selected to receive $500 in school supplies through the Burger King Teacher Appreciation Week program!

Each year, the Burger King Foundation honors the incredible impact teachers have on their students and communities by awarding $20,000 in school supplies! The funding is distributed to 80 teachers, with each selected educator receiving $500 in classroom supplies.

During this past Teacher Appreciation Week, Laura Rafferty nominated Mrs. Jones with the following submission letter:

“I am nominating my colleague, Jaclyn Jones, to receive a grant from Burger King. Jaclyn inspires her students to believe in themselves and their potential by accepting each child where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. She creates a safe and supportive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to grow. Many of our students come from challenging home environments, and with 85% of our students coming from low-income families, the extra love, patience, and stability Jaclyn provides make a lasting impact on their lives.

Jaclyn has a unique ability to help students recognize their strengths and believe they are capable of success. She encourages perseverance, celebrates growth, and reminds students that their circumstances do not define their future. Her students know they have an adult who believes in them unconditionally, and that confidence carries over into every area of their lives.

Beyond the classroom, Jaclyn demonstrates what hard work, leadership, and community spirit look like every day. As the student council advisor, she gives students opportunities to lead, collaborate, and make a difference in their school community. She also plans school dances, special family activity nights, and our end-of-year celebration, creating joyful experiences and positive memories for students and families alike.

Jaclyn goes above and beyond by coordinating with local businesses and community members to connect with and support our families. She helps create a strong sense of belonging and reminds students that they are supported not only by their school, but by their entire community. Through her compassion, dedication, and tireless efforts, Jaclyn inspires students to believe in their worth, their abilities, and the bright future ahead of them.”
