School Counselors: Mr. Russo is available to meet with students to assist with Academic, Career, and Social Emotional concerns and planning. Individual sessions and groups are available as well. Students can be referred by teachers and parents are also welcome to share concerns that a guidance counselor can follow up on. Students are also able to request time with the School Counselor. Social Workers: Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Didriksen and Mrs. Weichselbaum provide social work services consistent with the recommendations on students’ Individualized Education Plans. They also work with the general education students who are displaying social/emotional difficulties that are affecting them in the school setting. Social Workers are involved in the implementation of prevention programs and the school’s crisis team. Social Workers play an active role in the school’s RTI Team.

NICASA: NICASA sponsors an After School Club here at RLMS Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm. The program provides academic tutoring/lessons in math and language arts and homework help. Students are also introduced to social emotional lessons and sometimes have guest speakers discuss topics. Topics range from violence prevention to study skills. If you are interested in having your child be part of this program, please contact Mr. Russo in the guidance office. The district provides transportation to students enrolled in the program. This program is available to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Response to Intervention (RtI): RtI is a process designed by the state to help schools identify students who need additional help in the general education setting. Teachers, administrators, conselors, and social workers work as a team to come up with highly effective interventions to help teachers better meet students' needs. Parents play an integral part in this plan and are encouraged to become involved if thier child has been referred to the RtI team or to help the team brainstorm new ideas and best practices.
