         Village Attendance
           2007-2008
Financial aid for schools is connected largely to daily attendance. Our goal is to have 95% student attendance every month. It is once again time to remind parents of the importance of regular school attendance for all students.
Teachers prepare lessons so that material is taught in sequential order, and it is difficult for students to grasp the material when they are frequently absent. Students receive the full benefit of classroom instruction only when they attend on a regular basis. We request that students be kept at home only when it is necessary for medical reasons, and we also ask that school day appointments be kept to a minimum. When these appointments are necessary, return the student to school as quickly as possible so that lost instructional time will be minimized.
ATTENDANCE ON EARLY RELEASE DAYS IS IMPORTANT AND CHILDREN ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT SCHOOL.
Your cooperation and assistance in the matter of improved attendance is greatly appreciated. Parents and schools working together can meet the educational goals of all students.
We have been rewarding classes and students for their perfect attendance. The classroom with the best attendance in April was Mrs Susan Howard's 6th grade class with 98%. This class will proudly display our Viking flag above their room for the month.

When we started tracking our monthly attendance percentage in the 2004-2005 school year, our lowest month was 91.9%. Last year our lowest month was 93%.  Our highestpercentage in 2004-2005 was95.9% and last year it was 96.8%. WE'RE GETTING BETTER !!
