Ms. Nurnberg: Room 109
Hello my name is Tonya Nurnberg and I have been teaching at Village for 18 years. I have taught 5th, 2nd, 3rd and now 4th grade here at Village School. I received my undergraduate degree at Culver-Stockton College in Missouri in 2000. I then completed my Master's degree in 2006 from Saint Xavier University. I have always wanted to be a teacher and I love what I do. I continue to take classes to further my education, so I can be the best teacher I can be. I will be co-leading the NEW Elementary Scholars program our district has implemented this year.
I have a son named Keith and he is 8 years old. We love to go to the movies and to go on bike rides. We are always on the go and have a very close family. We spend a lot of time playing baseball, basketball and soccer. I live in Wisconsin, but grew up and went to school in Round Lake. I love Round Lake and all that it offers to the community.
Ms. Christensen: Room 110
I am very excited for second grade! This is my ninth year at Village Elementary School where I have taught five wonderful years. Growing up I have always wanted to be a teacher. My hard work to becoming a teacher began at the College of Lake County where I received my Associates of Arts. I then attend Northeastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University at the University Center of Lake County to receive my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. To continue my education, I attended Concordia University in Chicago for my Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership. I believe it won’t be too long until I’m back in school again!
I am very dedicated to making Village Elementary the best place for students, parents and staff to be!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and two dogs, Layla and Parker. I love to laugh with my Grammie, cuddle with my puppies and go to Blackhawks games with my friends. I also like listening to music, doing crafts, and reading.
