I'm excited to be a part of the Ellis Community. Over the past six years, I have enjoyed the opportunity to long-term sub in 4th grade, teach summer school, lead small group reading throughout all the grades and look forward to my third year teaching 2nd grade at Ellis. I have been teaching in Lake County for over 20 years. This includes preschool in Round Lake Beach, Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade in Mundelein and many long-term positions throughout Antioch and Lake Villa. My passion for educating children has gotten me involved in many wonderful opportunties in the community, as well. I have enjoyed developing programming for Success by Six (United Way) and co-found a developing children's museum in Lake County (Busy Brains Children's Museum).
I graduated from Western Illinois University with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. When not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my three boys.
I look forward to a year full of growth for all of the children at Ellis. The 2nd grade team will be sending home math and reading practice on a nightly basis. Please check your child's take home folder and assignment notebook on a nightly basis. We also ask that you help grow your child by having them read at least 20 minutes a night at home. I will be using ClassDoJo to shine on positive behaviors in the classroom. This will also a communication tool- I will be sharing pictures of acitvities that your child is doing in the classroom, as well as important reminders. Please keep a lookout for information on how to download this onto your phone or personal computer.
