CHARACTER COUNTS-RESPECT

“Every man is to be respected as an absolute end in himself; and it is a crime against the dignity that belongs to him as a human being, to use him as a mere means for some external purpose.”  ~ Immanuel Kant

Immanuel Kant was a Prussian geographer and philosopher in the 18th centuary.  His life work centered around metaphysics and logic.  Much of his published work addressed reason, morals and peace.  Respect was the underlining influence of his life’s work.  Through his publications and teachings he exerted tremendous influence on subsequent philosophy, especially the idealism of Fichte, Hegel, and Schelling.
