Dear JTMMS Community Member,
We are very pleased to share with you our plan to accelerate excellence and learning for every student at John T. Magee Middle School. JTMMS serves 650 students in sixth through eighth grade. Our goal is to both fortify the academic foundation, and establish caring, supportive environments that value the children we serve. Above all, each and every John T. Magee Middle School teacher will work to develop strong relationships with their students. Our hope is that these relationships will be the foundation for your child’s development as a lifelong learning.
Children between the ages of 10 and 14 undergo many emotional, intellectual, and physical changes as they evolve from childhood to young adulthood. As the students of JTMMS undergo these changes they will receive comprehensive learning, social, emotional and physical programs and activities to meet their individual needs in a safe and welcoming environment.
The John T. Magee school community strives to bridge a positive experience between elementary and high school. Our Student Mentors work to help new students make a positive transition to John T. Magee Middle School. Our staff implements research based strategies that equip our students with a robust foundation before they enter the 9th grade at Round Lake High School.
Our school community will hope to carry on the tradition of John T. Magee by encouraging students to not only improve their school, but the entire Round lake Area. JTMMS has developed a positive structure that includes celebrating good choices and re-teaches appropriate decision making by incorporating Character Counts with a three-tiered intervention program.
As members of the JTMMS community, we hope you will join students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the Board of Education in this critical effort to build an excellent middle school. We will need your participation, feedback, ideas and your ongoing support to ensure that every student graduates ready for college and life.
