January, 2010
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is hard to believe that the start of the second semester of the school year has arrived. Students are working their minds back into shape and teacher are challenging them with new and creative ways to learn.
Our Fine Arts department continues to shine in January, as our Art students are showing their new projects in our display cases. Our Drama department will be leading students in the production of “Willy Wonka”
By now your child has brought home their second quarter grades. Please the take time to review your child’s grades and contact their teachers if you have any questions. We will make every effort to partnering with you to assist with the improvement of their performance.
As you are planning appointments for the second semester, please make note of the ISAT testing dates. This year the testing dates will be March 2-9, 2010. We will be testing each day from 9:00am - 11:50 a.m. Please try to schedule appointments at other times and be sure that your child is in attendance and prepared to do the best job he/she can. Sixth and eighth graders will be tested in reading, math, and writing. Seventh grade students will be assessed in reading, math, and science.
Please continue to see if your child has received any “Cougar Dollars” lately. As part of our positive behavior program at John T. Magee, students may receive one of the dollars when a staff member witnesses an act of caring, respect or responsibility.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please give me a call, day or night at 847-344-9821 (cell), 847-546-8800 ext. 3101(school).
Sincerely,
Eric R. Gallagher, Principal
