First Grade Explorers

The first graders performed at the Bobcat Assembly this month with their Martin Luther King and Chinese New Year songs.  The year of the Rat was celebrated with fortune cookies, learning to do tangram puzzles and other activities.  The 100th day of school has come and gone.  To finish the month of February, first graders will be having a Valentines celebration, learning about some presidents, black history and dental health.

Third Grade Masters

The Third Graders have enjoyed learning about the Chinese New Year.  We have also been studying The American Presidents and Black History. In conjunction with Dental Health Month, we will be studying about our teeth.  We will be having a visit from a local dentist who will teach us more about good dental health.  Most importantly, the third graders are preparing for the ISAT tests.  These tests will be taken around the second week of March.

Fifth Grade Scholars

Beach 5th grade students have been reading about Louis Armstrong in a story titled Satchmo’s Blues. Ms. Folkman has also been working with the 5th graders on this Genre. They have learned a lot about his life and his music and have a better understanding of the music era of ‘jazz’.

Second Grade Discoverers

Second graders worked hard to do research on famous people and places in America.  They made posters of their findings with their parents and shared them in class.  They did an excellent job!

Fourth Grade Achievers

Fourth graders have been busy conducting experiments on density and mass in science.  The fourth grade classes have teamed up to work as reading buddies to prepare for the ISAT tests in March.

Sixth Grade Masterminds

Sixth grade is pleased to announce two new additions!  Miss Julie Franzak has begun student teaching in Mr. Tiani’s room and will work with them through April.  Miss Franzak is a student at North Eastern Illinois University.  Mr. Mark Bruso has taken over for Mrs. Taucher, who has begun her maternity leave.  Mr. Bruso will be with us throughout the remainder of the school year.  We are very excited to welcome both of these additions to the Beach School Sixth Grade!
