EMERGENCY CLOSING / LATE START
The beginning of the snow season reminds us all of the rare occasions when our regular school schedule might need to be adjusted due to hazardous weather conditions.
CLOSING OF SCHOOL
If severe weather or another emergency causes school to be closed, this information will be reported to the following websites, radio and television stations:
LATE START SCHEDULE
Although it is a rare occasion when school is closed due to weather, it can occur. District 116 may also announce a “late start” schedule due to the need for clearing the snow in time for the arrival of children. In the event that the weather is predicted to be severe, please visit the websites, listen to the radio, or watch local news stations listed above in the morning. If a “late start” is required, the media sources listed above will indicate what time school will begin. Bus schedule times will also be reported. Please note that while there may be a “late start”, school will end at the regular time.
HAZARDOUS WALKING TRANSPORTATION PLAN
In an effort to help service the Round Lake Area School District 116 high school and middle school students who walk to school, the following hazardous walking transportation plan has been developed. The media sources listed above will be advised if this plan is in effect.
If the wind chill should fall to –10 degrees or greater or if an ice or snow storm should occur:
- Middle School buses will alter their routes and drive down Golfview and Lotus between 7:25 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. offering rides to walking students.
- High School buses will make stops at Beach and Ellis schools at approximately 7:25 a.m. to provide rides to the high school.
Thank you for your cooperation in the implementation of these severe weather safety procedures.
