 DISTRICT PLAN

The Round Lake Area School District plan begins with the Mission and Vision and Core Value statements.  These were developed through a strategic planning process that involved the District the RLAS community.  A review of student achievement data and needs assessments served as the basis for the development of District goals.

MISSION OF RLAS-116
The mission of the Round Lake Area Schools, a diverse and multicultural district in partnership with our community is to develop successful lifelong learners who can contribute to an ever-changing global society by providing all students with high quality learning experiences.

VISION OF RLAS-116
The vision of the Round Lake Area Schools is to become a top-ranked Illinois school district by 2013.  We will be comparable to top Illinois schools in academics, co-curricular activities, parent involvement, financial health, and other opportunities for children, parents, community and personnel.

RLAS-116 CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS

RLAS-116 is a CHARACTER COUNTS district and follows the model of the six pillars" trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.

RLAS-116 GOALS
  1.  Improve student reading comprehension skills across the curriculum as measured by state and local assessments.   
       The percent of students meetings and exceeding standards will at the minimum meet AYP criteria.
  2.  Increase the percent of students enrolled in the high school who graduate.  The percent of students meeting and
       exceeding the graduation rate established by NCLB will at a minimum meet AYP criteria.
  3.  Improve student mathematics problem-solving skills across the curriculum as measured by state and local
       assessments.  The percent of students meeting and exceeding standards will at the minimum meet AYP criteria.
  4.  Enhance curriculum alignment, curriculum mapping and instructional pacing.
  5.  Improve technology with regard to student information and instructional support.
  6.  Establish a sound financial foundation required to deliver a quality education.
  7.  Improve the learning environment in order to provide students and staff with the resources to achieve a quality
       education.
