RLAS-116 to host Parent Information Sessions

We are considering a new schedule for students in grades K-5 for the 2018-19 school year. Please attend a Parent Information Session on March 8 or March 21 to learn more about this proposal.

RLAS-116 hires Chief Academic Officer and Chief Operations Officer for 2018-19 Dr. Lamping, Dr. Mendoza, Dr. Center

On Monday, February 26, 2018, the Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Susan Center, Chief Academic Officer and Dr. Mary Lamping, Chief Operations Officer, effective July 1, 2018.

RLAS-116 Earns Meritorious Budget Award Meritorious Budget Award Designation Letter

Round Lake Area Schools joins a small sampling of Districts across the State of Illinois that have achieved the distinguished Meritorious Budget Award, provided by the Association of School Business Officials International. The MBA recognizes school districts in the United States and Canada for excellence in school budget presentation, setting a high standard for transparent budget development.

RLAS-116 was awardedthe first step toward this award, Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award, in 2016-17. In 2016-17, just 18 school districts in Illinois earned this prestigious designation!

Winter Break Hours

Winter Break is scheduled for Monday, December 24, 2017 through Friday, January 5, 2018. The Administrative Service Center will be open Wednesday through Friday each week of break, 7:45am-4:15pm. Schools will be closed during the Break. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Donation of Books & Supplies Wrapping Up

Due to the amazing support of the larger community, our District has received over 100,000 books of boxes full of school supplies! The collection of these donations will conclude September 1.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support. Thanks to YOU, our school libraries will be furnished with a wide array of interesting materials for kids and families will receive extra support with the availability of school supplies.

Registration Deadline for Before/After School Care - Saturday, July 29
Free Family Movie Event / Before-After School Care Registration Event - July 14

A Free Family Movie Event will be held for all families on Friday, July 14. The Lego Batman Movie will be presented. Bring your own blankets and snacks.

Location: Round Lake Area Park District 814 Hart Rd, Round Lake
Time: 6:00pm Open House; 7:00pm Movie Time

Please note that location has been moved from Ellis Elementary School to the Park District gymnasium and the time has been changed to 6:00pm.

Football Camp Starts Monday, July 10!

Attention anyone interested in playing football this season. Football Camp starts this Monday, July 10th, at Round Lake High School. Camp is for all athletes, 9th - 12th grade. Meet in upper gym at 8:00 a.m. You do not need to be preregistered to attend, athletes could sign up at camp.

Deadline for Registration is Coming Soon - June 30 School Registration Sign

Registration for the 2017-18 school year is due June 30. If registrations are not complete by that time, a $25 late fee will be assessed. This late fee is not a waivable fee.

Also, all school physicals and records of current immunizations are due to the school office by the first day of school, August 21. If you do not have or cannot schedule an appointment with your regular physician by this time, please contact the Round Lake Area Health & Wellness Center at 847-257-1200 to schedule an appointment.

At this time the Graduation Ceremony is moving forward as originally scheduled.  We are closely monitoring the weather and will send further communications out at 4:30 pm this evening if the ceremony is postponed or delayed.

  • 2 Ripe Bananas
  • 1 Cup Oats
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • Dried Blueberries
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Dark Chocolate


  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Peel bananas and mash until there is a runny consistency
  3. Stir in oat and cinnamon
  4. Scoop mix on baking pan in small piles then flatten the top with a spoon
  5. Place fruit on top before baking
  6. Bake for 25 minutes
  7. Melt chocolate
  8. Drizzle chocolate on top
  9. Enjoy!

RLMS Robotics Club (WIRED) Wins Engineering/Design Award

Congratulations to WIRED (Wildcats In Robotics, Engineering and Design), Round Lake Middle School’s Robotics team!  The club won the Engineering / Design Award at the 4th Annual Lake and McHenry County 4H Robotics Showcase!  The trophy and certificate are currently on display in the main office at RLMS.  Congratulations to all of the club members (Jose Orduna, Jake Benedict, Louis Patino, Alan Zambrano, Tommy Johnson, Carlos Montoya, Kinai Patino, Lexie Fritzler, Ben Fritzler, Ammon McLane and Dallas Ryan) and their coaches, (Mr. Costa and Mr. Davis)

The Freedom Shrine is a display of historical documents photographically reproduced from the originals and permanently laminated to individual non-warping plaques.

Year 3 Initiatives of 5-Year Strategic Plan Approved for 2017-18 Year 3 Initiatives

The Board of Education took action on June 19, 2017 to approve initiatives set in accordance with the 5-Year Strategic Plan. 2017-2018 is Year 3 of the overall plan. You can access the full document of initiatives here.
