What services does the Health & Wellness Center offer?

The Round Lake Area Health & Wellness Center is operated by the Lake County Health Department and offers a wide variety of services.

·      School and sports physicals

·      Immunizations

·      Treatment of minor illness or injury

·      Management of asthma, diabetes, seizures

·      Basic lab tests

·      Prescribing/dispensing medication for common illnesses

·      Reproductive health services

·      Mental health counseling

·      Substance abuse counseling

·      Crisis intervention

·      Dental care referrals

 

Who is able to obtain services from the Health & Wellness Center?

All registered students of Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116 are eligible to obtain services from the Health & Wellness Center. Parents must complete a Consent Form prior to a student’s first visit to the Center.

 

Do I have to make an appointment?

The Health & Wellness Center is able to provide most services on a walk-in basis during normal hours of operation. However, appointments are also available and can be scheduled by contacting the Health & Wellness Center directly.

 

Is transportation provided for students who obtain services from the Health & Wellness Center?

At this time, transportation is not provided by the Lake County Health Department or the Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116.

 

Do I need to attend my child’s appointments at the Health & Wellness Center?

Students at Round Lake High School do not require that a parent be present at a child’s appointment. If a child is not enrolled at Round Lake High School, a parent must be present for the appointment.

 

What do I need to do for my child to be seen at the Health & Wellness Center?

Those who choose to obtain services from the Health & Wellness Center must complete a Consent Form prior to the student’s first visit. Walk-in’s and scheduled appointments are available.

 

Does the Health & Wellness Center take the place of the school nurse?

No, staff members in the Health & Wellness Center do not supplant school staff but rather supplement what they do. The school health staff will continue to work with students during the school day. They will refer students that they would have formerly sent home or referred to outside agencies to the Health & Wellness Center. Both the school and the Health & Wellness Center staff will develop working relationships and establish protocol for working with students and working together.

 

Will I know when my child comes to the Health & Wellness Center?

The Health & Wellness Center staff may inform you when your child obtains services for most visits. According to the Illinois Consent and Confidentiality Laws, however, providers cannot disclose information without the minor’s consent (12 and older) regarding sexual health, mental health, and drug and alcohol treatment. Health & Wellness Center providers work very closely with students on the importance of discussing these topics with their parent and counsel them on how to broach tough subjects with their parents.

 

Does my family need to have health insurance to use the Health & Wellness Center?

Students are not required to have health insurance in order to receive services from the Health & Wellness Center. It is important to note that while services are not free, a sliding payment scale is available for families facing financial difficulties.

 

Who operates the Health & Wellness Center?

The Round Lake Area Health & Wellness Center is operated by the Lake County Health Department. Staff includes a Family Nurse Practitioner, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, and a Psychiatrist.

 

How is the Health & Wellness Center funded?

The Health & Wellness Center is funded through the Lake County Health Department. Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116 does not fund the Center.

 

Where is the Health & Wellness Center located?

The Heather & Wellness Center is located at Round Lake High School, 800 N High School Dr, Round Lake, Illinois. Round Lake High School students may access the Center from the inside of the school. Students and families arriving from outside the school may enter through an entrance designated specifically for the Health & Wellness Center. This entrance is located near the main entrance of the school.

 

What are the Health & Wellness Center’s hours of operation?

Current hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7:30am-4:30pm.
