Read Across America Week is February 26-March 2nd

During the week of February 26th students at Ellis School will participate in Read Across America Week. This is a week of fun activities centered around Dr. Seuss!  Each day the students will participate in a new literacy activity and read a new story written by Dr. Seuss.  Some examples of activities include mystery readers, themed writing, STEM challenges, guest readers, special assemblies, and D.E.A.R time.

2 Hour Late Start on Tuesday, February 20th

School will begin at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20th. Students should not arrive at school until 10 a.m. on this day

No School Monday, February 19th-President's Day

There will be no school today in honor of President's Day

Black History Month Celebration for 2/8 is CANCELLED. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

Due to the weather forecast the Black History celebration planned for this evening is cancelled. It will be rescheduled and shared with families as soon as possible.

Come to the Ellis Talent Show! February 15th at 6:30 p.m.

The Ellis Talent Show will be held on Thursday, February 15th!  This will be an event you won't want to miss! Come and see all our amazing Ellis students as they showcase their talents! The show starts at 6:30 in the Ellis gym!

RLAS-116 to host Annual Black History Month Celebration - TO BE RESCHEDULED

Come out for some wonderful student performances around the theme of African Americans in Times of War.

Education Foundation to host "Winter Wonderland Daddy Daughter Dance" on Saturday, February 24

Attention Dads! Take this special opportunity to bring your little girl out for a night of fun and dancing!

February Family Project

What book does your family love to read together? Show your love of reading by completing the February Family Project!  Complete a colorful heart with the name of your favorite book, names of your family members, and decorated with a picture to represent the story. Be as creative as you'd like!  Return the heart to school by February 1st to be displayed in the Ellis halls!  We would love to see which books your family enjoys!

Winter Break Hours

Winter Break is scheduled for Monday, December 24, 2017 through Friday, January 5, 2018. The Administrative Service Center will be open Wednesday through Friday each week of break, 7:45am-4:15pm. Schools will be closed during the Break. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Ms. Forster receives the Chicago Bears Symetra Heroes in the Classroom award!

Ms. Christine Forster was honored by George McCaskey and Staley Da Bear of the Chicago Bears for her accomplishments in the classroom!  Ms. Forster recieved many wonderful prizes including money to help her with items in her classroom, tickets to a Bears game, and her very own Chicago Bears jersey!  Congratulations Ms. Forster!  Ellis is so proud to have you!

Winter Break December 23-January 9

Students will begin their winter break folling a regular school day on December 22nd. School will resume for students on January 9th. Have a wonderful break with your families and have a Happy New Year!

Students celebrate Hour of Code December 4-8

During the week of December 4-December 8th Ellis students will participate in the Hour of Code. Students will use different types of technology to do coding in their classrooms. Thank you to our digital age learning coach, Ms. Wishau for setting this up for our school! We can't wait to code!

Students experience technology with Augmented Reality!

Today our 3rd-5th graders got to experience Google Augmented Reality. Augmented Reality allows images to appear in your current environment. Our students 3rd-4th graders got to see a tornado, hurricane, volcano, tsunami, and an earthquake. Some students also got to see some underwater animals or landforms. Our 5th grade students got to see some of Da Vinci's Inventions and Dinosaurs!

Smencils are on sale!

Student council is selling Smencils!  Each Smencil costs $1.00 and they come in lots of yummy smelling flavors!  Fill out and return your order form to your teacher. Smencils will be delivered to classrooms before fall break. (November 17)

Ellis Students are KIND!

Earlier in November students were able to watch a fun assembly presented by our friends from The Chapel!  The students learned the importance of being kind!  From now until December 11th the students will have the opportunity to earn special Eagle Bucks to celebrate when they are caught being kind!  These special Eagle Bucks will be used for students to purchase fun items for their loved ones from a special school store during the week of December 11th.  SHOW YOUR KINDNESS ELLIS EAGLES!

Year 3 Initiatives of 5-Year Strategic Plan Approved for 2017-18 Year 3 Initiatives

The Board of Education took action on June 19, 2017 to approve initiatives set in accordance with the 5-Year Strategic Plan. 2017-2018 is Year 3 of the overall plan. You can access the full document of initiatives here.

Administration submits updates to the Board on these initiatives on a regular basis (November, February & June).

Registration for the 2017-18 school year is due June 30. If registrations are not complete by that time, a $25 late fee will be assessed. This late fee is not a waivable fee.

Also, all school physicals and records of current immunizations are due to the school office by the first day of school, August 21. Authorfest 2017

Do you enjoy writing?  Do you have a creative imagination?  Submit a piece of writing for Authorfest 2017!  Awards will be given to students based on the age groups provided in the rules description. We hope to see many Ellis authors submit their writing!  The deadline will be July 24, 2017 for all submissions. Awards will be given out on August 5th.

Ticket orders are due Monday, March 6, 2017. You will get them the day of the movie at the door.
When: Friday March 10, 2017 Where: Ellis Gym Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Buy your movie tickets now and pay just $1.00! Tickets at the door will be $1.50 (cash or checks made out to Ellis PTO) Concessions will see hot dogs, popcorn, bottled water, and candy (most items are $1.00)
