Round Lake Transition students continued to progress in their cooking skills. With the weather getting ready to turn colder, the students are focusing on making foods that will warm you up on a chilly day!
One group of students learned how to make two sauces into one to go with their pasta. They were able to combine marinara and alfredo sauce to make a creamy marinara that would go with any type of pasta. Along with that they browned sausage to put into the sauce to give it a different texture. It was quick and easy which means it is something that could be easily made to feed themselves or their family.
Another group of students went a different direction and made appetizers that would go great for any occasion. They chose to make sweet and sour meatballs and hot dogs. It was a learning experience for the whole group as they learned how to cook something in a crockpot. They put the jelly in with the meatballs and hot dogs. After letting it cook for a few hours, the students were able to enjoy food that they put together in a few minutes.
From pasta with a mixture of sauces to sweet and sour meatballs, the students continue to show their progression and diversity in cooking.
