Cooking with Round Lake Transition 2nd Edition

The bar was raised this week as the Round Lake transition students upped their game with the recipes that they made.

Students made a list of ingredients that they would need and then went shopping. At the store they were able to find the items neded to make their recipes. In addition, they comparsion shopped and were able to determine which product was cheaper and would fit their needs.

Once in the kitchen, many techniques were shown. Students were able to brown meat in order to make tacos. What goes with tacos? Well guacamole of course! The students made homemade guacamole to go with the tacos that they could dip tortilla chips in.

Another group of students decided that sometimes a simple sandwich is the best way to go! Who doesn't like a grilled sandwich with warm, gooey cheese? The students bought bread, cheese, tomatoes and more to make paninis. By using a panini press, the students were able to make their sandwich on their own under minimal supervision and have a delicious meal in a matter of minutes!

From sandwiches to tacos and guacamole, there was a serious display of cooking skills at the Round Lake Transition Center this week!
