RLAS-116 Board of Education and the Education Association of Round Lake Announce Collective Bargaining Agreement 4-Year Contract Approved

Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116 Board of Education and the Education Association of Round Lake Announce Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Round Lake Area Schools CUSD #116 Board of Education (“Board”) is pleased to announce that the District and the Education Association of Round Lake (“EARL”) have reached a four-year collective bargaining agreement. The current agreement will expire June 30, 2017. Conversations about a contract rollover began in October 2016. The EARL membership ratified the contract (624 Yes, 31 No) on Thursday, January 19, 2017, followed by the Board’s approval (6 Yes, 0 No) of the agreement at their February 6, 2017 Board meeting.

EARL represents approximately 900 employees, including bus drivers, custodians, health services, maintenance, mechanics, secretaries, teacher aides, and teachers.

The agreement is a rollover from the current contract and includes an increase to the salary schedules resulting in an average increase of 1.9% per year on all salary schedule amounts. In comparison, the current 2014-2017 contract provided an average increase of 0.66% per year.  Teachers and support staff will therefore see about a 4% increase each year over the next 4 years, which is comprised of step and salary increases.

The new agreement will be posted to the District website by Friday, February 17, 2017.
